For Once in My Life – By Ron Miller and Orlando Murden
Copyright EMI April Music Inc. o/b/o Jobete Music Co. Inc. and EMI Blackwood Music Inc. o/b/o Stone Diamond Music Corp.

This is the song where I just decided I would go nuts. I looked at Ted’s solo arrangement and learned it, but I decided that I wanted to make something huge and funky and just harmonically really rich. So I looked at various aspects of the song and re-worked some of the harmonic components and then just made it a huge semi-Jazz-fusion approach and "just go big or go home" approach, with an extended solo over a very intricate re-harmonization of the song hook. Then I created an insanely fun Rhythm Guitar part and went from there. the first guitar solo was me trying to emulate the fluid creativity of Stevie's harmonica work and the last solos are over the harmonically complex sequences I wrote over the hook and is just me having a lot of fun going nuts! This is probably the last CD I will make for myself. I enjoy making and mixing films and CD's for other artists, but I am too hard on myself in this process. This last song was just going out with a bang and saying to Ted how grateful i am for everything he taught me and how I play guitar. Lots of love and respect to my teacher and friend Ted Greene. RIP.

This particular piece happened in stages and I was lucky to have Christian Teele on Drums and Kip Kuepper on Bass and my friend multi-instrumentalist and singer Jeff Paris join me here on B3 organ and vocals. Jeff sings both lead and background vocals and just tears it up on B3.
